Privacy policy
TVK for Roku · upRiver Network · last updated 8 October 2026
This policy covers the TVK app for Roku and the tvknob.com service it talks to. It's short because the app collects very little. Website accounts are described in the tvknob.com privacy policy.
Watching without an account
- On your TV the app remembers the last channel you watched, so it reopens there.
- From tvknob.com the app loads the channel lineup and channel pages. Like any website, our servers and our network provider (Cloudflare) see your IP address when the TV connects. We use it briefly to limit abuse (for example too many link attempts) and don't keep a profile of it.
- Streams play directly from each channel's streaming server, which may be run by the channel rather than by us, and which sees your IP address while you watch.
- On-demand plays are counted anonymously so channels can see how many times a show was played.
When you link a tvknob.com account
Linking is optional. When you link a TV we keep, for as long as the TV stays linked:
- your account's name and email address, so you and network staff can recognise the linked TV;
- the TV's model name and an app-specific device ID that Roku provides (it is not your Roku serial number and is different for every app);
- when the TV was linked and, at most hourly, when it was last used;
- a sign-in session for your account, stored encrypted. The TV itself only holds a random token, never your password.
Your password is sent once, over an encrypted connection, to sign you in, and is never stored by the Roku service.
What we don't do
- No advertising or ad tracking in the Roku app.
- No third-party analytics in the Roku app.
- We don't sell or share your information with anyone, except service providers that run our servers and network for us.
Deleting your information
Unlink the TV (guide › Signed in as …) or sign out its TVK Roku session in Network Studio › Account. The link and everything kept for it are deleted straight away. To delete your whole tvknob.com account, contact us.
Roku
Roku collects its own information about how you use your device and apps under Roku's privacy policy.
Children
The app is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
