This policy covers the TVK app for Android TV and the tvknob.com service it talks to. The site has its own policy at tvknob.com/privacy.

Watching without an account

Public channels play without an account. The app asks tvknob.com for the channel list and for a channel's shows. Our servers see the TV's IP address, the same as a visit to the website. We use it to run the service. We don't keep a profile of anonymous viewers.

The phosphor style you pick and the last channel stay on the TV. We don't receive them. Uninstalling the app removes them.

Pictures from other sites

A YouTube or other web picture loads inside the app from that site, so that site sees the TV's IP address under its own policy. We don't pull the video file out of YouTube, and we don't send those sites your tvknob.com account.

Linking a TV

Linking is optional. When you start it, the app sends a device id (the Android ID) and the device model, so we can tell one TV from another and name the session TVK Android TV. We use the Android ID only for that link. It is not an advertising id.

You then enter the code at tvknob.com/link and sign in. The password is sent to tvknob.com from the browser, not from the TV. The TV receives a random token and stores it on the device. We store a hash of that token with your account id, name, email, the device id and model, and when the link was created. The token lets the TV see the channels your account can see, including private ones.

Unlinking on the TV, or signing out the TVK Android TV session in Network Studio, deletes the link. A code that nobody finishes expires after 10 minutes and is discarded.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your information.
• No advertising or ad tracking in the Android TV app.
• No third-party analytics in the Android TV app.

Android

Google collects its own information about how you use the device and apps under Google's privacy policy.

Children

The app is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

Deleting your information

Unlink the TV (guide › Signed in as …) or sign out its TVK Android TV session in Network Studio › Account. The link and everything kept for it are deleted straight away. To delete your whole tvknob.com account, contact us.
